How to Change the Start Up Programs on Windows XP


Add Start Up Programs
1. Right-click on the 'Start' menu, and select 'Explore.' This opens the Windows Explorer window.
2. Click 'Programs' in the left pane of the Windows Explorer window. (See Reference 1)
3. Find the program you want to open automatically at startup in the right pane.
4. Right-click on the program and select 'Copy.'
5. Click 'Programs' in the left pane, right-click 'Startup,' and then click 'Paste.'
6. Repeat for all the programs you want to open automatically at startup.
Remove Start Up Programs
7. Click on the 'Start' menu, and then select 'Run.' (See Reference 2)
8. Type 'msconfig' into the open box and click 'OK.' This opens the 'System Configuration Utility.'
9. Click on the 'Startup' tab in the 'System Configuration Utility' window.
10. Uncheck the box next to the programs that you do not want to startup automatically.
